New loan signing Russell Anderson certainly made an impression on his Burnley debut against Plymouth after signing on loan from RK Sunderland four days earlier.

In January 1981 a young local lad made his Burnley debut in a heavy third division defeat at Chesterfield and now over 27 years later he's been appointed as assistant to Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United.

This coming Saturday Burnley play Oldham in the Youth Alliance League and if the early goals from each of the two teams is anything to go by then we should be able to expect goals at Gawthorpe.

Derek Riordan moved back to Hibs from Celtic yesterday whilst Alan Gow left the club of his dreams Rangers to join Blackpool on loan - and all I can say is thank goodness for that.
